The big melt!

After a fabulous weekend; Friday snow, Saturday sledging, Sunday snow all gone, the weather seems to have turned against us!!

The rain and wind has been depressing today. I've walked over the railway bridge 4 times today, each time the river flowing faster and nearly necessitating the floodgates to be closed.

I feel for the poor families who are in danger of flooding now that the snow has thawed. The fields are saturated and there is so much standing water on the roads where else has it got to go!?

Driving through rush hour traffic in powerful winds and heavy rain, the mood around York seems grey.

But seeing daffodils in the shops gives us hope! The snowdrops are battling with the soggy earth to burst through! Spring is not too far around the corner.... Hopefully!
