Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Earth Day

All the celebrations for this the 50th anniversary of Earth Day are now online of course.   I wanted to go have a walk in our beautiful arboretum but it rained all day so we stayed local (less people encountered out walking tho!)  Fortunately there is lots of green space nearby in this city.   Saw this rabbit quite close to the p-patch (behind the fence)… not EXACTLY here, but close.    …..  One hopes that from this pandemic and the cleaner air the world is experiencing, there will be positive environmental.changes.   I watched an online talk at the UW School of the Environment by Tim Egan, of the NYT,  who ives in Seattle and is optimistic about a “reset” after we’re out of this crises.  (But alas, people won’t stay out of their cars. )  And tonight Climate Change Environmentalist Elizabeth Kolbert (Author of the Sixth Extinction) is giving a talk online for which we have a ticket.    I hope to be inspired.

I also hope more are learning about how much we can do without or at least reuse.   Having said that, however…not a good time on Earth Day…both our toaster oven and our espresso machine are broken…we’ve already tried some extra parts, but this is serious for H who makes breakfast almost every morning and who generally will resole a shoe until the top falls apart, but he really needs for the toaster and the coffee machine to work!   Period.    So after much research they are both ordered,  to be delivered. …..

Tim Egan's talk on  Using the Power of Nature to forge a new National Narrative.  almost an hour but good for his followers.
