Happy Bird Day ...

This evening, at 19:00 Queen Beatrix quite unexpectedly announced her abdication. On 30 April, her son, the Prince of Orange, will be inaugurated as King Willem Alexander.

A memorable day for the Kingdom of the Lowlands near the sea.

It was a bright sunny day. The thaw continued 'undismayed'. Much to the delight of the birds. They could use the garden again as an area of finding food. At the end of the afternoon I pictured this blackbird in the last rays of the low sun. Just behind the bird you can see the last remains of the snow.

I have chosen for a b/w presentation. The contrast between light and dark was actually bit too big and worked adversely on the colors ... ;)
