Im and I went to Seven Islands Pond on Mitcham Common during her lunch break... We spotted a whole loads of new chicks: a number of broods of Canada goslings, as well as some cootlings and moorhenlings. We found this alert pair with six goslings, but they crossed paths with another pair of parents, and somehow left with all the goslings (and the other parents left with none). After our walk around the pond, we found that they still had all 9, so perhaps we witnessed an adoption transfer in progress, or perhaps the other pair were simply returning unwanted followers...
