Morning mooching
The best part of the day was very first thing. As Gus and I reached the top of Arnside Knott, the conservation crew were still hunkered down in the grass before starting their grazing duties. The sky briefly coloured up with candy stripes through the blue. The sun was still struggling to rise above the cloud sitting on the eastern horizon. The wind was keen, bringing the rain clouds that were to dominate the day.
Gus has been with us for a month now. He is more relaxed when walking than he was at first, venturing further away before turning round and trotting back to me. He remains stubbornly camera shy. We have been seeing roe deer on our walks this last week, and he takes a keen interest, though happily he stays close rather than taking chase. I am really enjoying our whatever the weather walks, and in the space of the last month there is now time to watch the sunrise and get home before 0830. Today there was still enough light to see at 1700, soon there will be daylight for a respectable after work walk.
I've gone against the advice of the blip consultant with this one. I liked it more and it was less typical of Gladders. Besides, after the last cow blip, there were several requests for more.
