Welcome Dragon

Today my new home, a 30 foot narrowboat built in 1977 arrived on a truck from Bath (a prearranged move before lockdown). This was an incredibly exciting moment. Not only do I now own a narrowboat, but also an anchor, multiple fire extinguishers, a solar panel and an array of items needed for life on the water.

It was also an insight into life in the boating community. Everyone fell in love with this cute little addition to the boat yard and joined me in welcoming her to the River Ouse, her new home. Almost every person came to greet me and enthusiastically tell me about their boats. Such a friendly community.

The next few weeks Dragon will remains out of the water on the boatyard for a fresh coat of blacking to the hull and inspections. But it won’t be long until she is back in the water and this next chapter in life begins.

Look forward to many sundowners and early morning coffees, and cold nights tucked next to the wood burner. My blip will soon be taken over by boating tales :)
