At Last!!!!!!
We are surrounded by woods and trees. At this time of year, we hear birdsong everywhere. Our nesting Robin has seen her children fledge; the nest in the shed is empty and we can get back in there and put away ‘stuff’ that we grabbed to avoid disturbing it. When we cleared an overgrown area of the garden, I was worried I had scared away some of the rarer sights. I know we have lost the Firecrest to the wooded area further away. However, we have still heard a Nightingale regularly this spring. Its always a challenge to differentiate a Nightingale, Robin and Blackbird song at times. Only actually seeing the bird clarifies. After hearing what I hoped was a Nightingale sing during one of my walks with Elvis, I realised it was in a lightly wooded area close to me. I waited, Elvis was as good as gold and laid down at my feet. Eventually, it moved and allowed me to find it. Most of my snaps were blurred or of it moving and turning its back on me (which actually helped me identify it). Now, at last, I have my Nightingale picture. Next challenge is to get the Golden Orioles that can be heard in the woods a couple of hundred metres away. Fingers crossed.
