View from a highland train
Today, I fell asleep on the 7.40am train from Fort William and woke up in Narnia. I saw mountains with fresh coatings of thick snow retreating far into the Scottish wilderness. I saw lakes frozen into soft swirls of ice and black forests standing silently by. I saw deer drinking from the icy rivers and bounding away from our rickety wheeled thing. I saw whole landscapes with not a man-made object in sight apart from the glass before my eyes.
Never again will I travel in the dark.
