Surfaced

I am SO glad I didn't put my hand down to pick up the sticks in this bed or rake the leaves up.  I was standing about 12" away talking with Mr. Mole when I noticed him/her. Even though I know it's harmless, I always scream when it slithers past me.  I'll be on guard for the next several months now.  Although I'm very squeamish around snakes (and insects and....), I do admire the shapes and colors of his scales.  I'm glad he didn't stick out his tongue at me.  This is my one and only snake photo for this year.
