Pellets

All the screws in wood that is going to be varnished are counterbored and the hole filled with a pellet made from the same wood as the item being fastened. I had a bit of a problem because the pellet cutter makes a 3/8” diameter pellet but my brad point counter boring drill is 10 mm. The difference means the pellet is a sloppy fit in the hole and leaves a noticeable glue line. A rummage through the bits at the bottom of the drill drawer produced an old 3/8”.flat wood bit. It was pretty blunt but a few minutes with the fine grindstone and it was ready to go. Just as well, I think there will be over 100 pellets to make and fit.
