Here comes the summer (part 2)
Al Fresco drinking for me yesterday and today the kids are getting stuck into ice creams at the beach. A bit on the chilly side but that just means the ice cream takes longer to melt so that's fine.
Later in the day I had something of an epiphany. I was lying on the ground underneath an old rusted winching rig at Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum, it was quite beautiful and the old metal looked great against the blue sky. My pictures were crap, but that's not the point - the point is that when I was taking the photos I started laughing at how ridiculous I must look and thought THIS is why I started Blipping - it's the motivation to get off the beaten track, get muddy and look for an unusual, beautiful or arresting image. I'd have never bothered before, I would have just taken the camera out to get a photo of the kids.
Although the shots I took at the museum were rubbish, hence I've ended up with one of the kids anyway, that doesn't matter to me, I'll get better by trying and there's lots of fun to be had in the meantime scrabbling around on the floor under old industrial machinery.
