The red menace

In a brief inspection of the garden at lunchtime I found several Red Lily beetles on the stems and seed pods of my Snake's head fritillaries. My quandry now is what to do about them before they devastate the lilies.

Butterfly news: its another cold and wet day so you wouldn't expect any butterflies to be out but on my early morning walk with the spaniel before the rain set in I saw my first Small Copper of the year, one day earlier than last year, bringing my species count to thirteen for the year to date.
