Kings College School

This unusual monument stands at the entrance to the school which was founded in 1441 by King Henry VI. The King wanted boys to sing in the chapel choir of Kings College, which he also founded in the fifteenth century. Originally there were 16 choristers, but now there are 450 boys and girls aged from 5 to 13. I think it is a very recent object - I have certainly not noticed it before - and the building is certainly not that old!! The choristers still march in their choristers robes down the road to the college every evening in term time to sing Evensong.
