Special Licence

Today I went to pick up our booze licences. Abu Dhabi has just made a new 'Special Licence Office', which is online based.

It has made the renewal of the alcohol licence so much easier, all the documents are uploaded and there is no charge. Previously it was a case of finding whatever police station was nominated, and then spending at least three trips before they agreed all your documentation was complete.

The licence comes with a handy booklet with such gems as:-

What is alcohol?
The most common form of alcohol is called ethanol. It is present in beer, wine and distilled spirits.

Is all alcohol the same?
Yes. It is important to remember alcohol is alcohol. There is no 'safe' form of alcohol. What matters is not the quality you drink but the quantity.
