Pembrokeshire rocks!
Well I'm no geologist but these rocks at Newgale are fascinating. Laid down as volcanic sedimentary layers hundreds of millions of years ago, they seemed to form large crystals and tend to erode in geometric blocks.
The beautiful sandy beach is backed by a shingle bank that has pebbles of almost every rock type and colour in Wales brought down to the Atlantic by the glaciers.
Mabel is very patient at being my scale marker, especially as she had just swum across the river to reach this point. Her border terrier fur just sheds the water and keeps her warm and dry beneath.
I use a completely waterproof Pentax WG-1 in this kind of weather and when we are out kayaking. I discovered that my iPhone isn't waterproof when I took it swimming in India last year....
