Cold and wet day. Late blip.
I went up the garden after tea when a sliver of sunshine appeared. (Not for long).
I took the photo of the bluebells and apple blossom petals in the “wild patch” by the shed.
Busy day.
I was finishing off the French I had begun on Tuesday as it was raining hard this morning and we didn’t go out for a walk.
The doorbell rang.
Stephen answered it.
It was one of our friends from up the road. She was on her way to the post box past our house and stood halfway down the drive to have a chat, saying she really missed seeing people.
(In the sense that we can pop in to each other’s homes in passing and have a cuppa en route and a catch up)
She was well wrapped up against the weather. We caught up on various things until we all got colder!
Another ring on the doorbell this afternoon and another friend standing at the end of the drive having left 3 lots of flour and some yeast in the box on the doorstep for deliveries.
He’d heard we were having trouble finding some. He said to Stephen, who had answered the door, “Take it as a blessing” .
So, blessed we are in his gift!
I finished the French after lunch, then decided to read for a bit.
Poetry this time.
I only read a few at any one go, as poems are to savour.
The books are:
A Poet’s Guide to Britain.
The Nation’s Favourite Poems.
And my well used copy of Collected Poems of Edward Thomas.
Just been out on the doorstep clapping for the NHS. More pan lid banging and fireworks too!
Now sitting by the fire about to watch a downloaded episode of the first series of “Spooks”!
