This is every grandparent's dream just now. With all this online ordering, it's amazing what you can get through the post but sadly this is not allowed.... It's the picture for May on our calendar and made me smile. This was a year ago - hopefully it won't be that long before I see them again.

Today was a surprising day much warmer and sunnier than expected and I saw both girls, K popped up to pick up some yeast that I had, as she had run out and A did our weekly shop. K also brought me some little pots of sweet peas from Waitrose. What a treat. The summer plants must be in.

We walked to church this morning to drop something off for the Rector and met two members of the congregation one mowing the extensive lawns and another tending the rest of the garden behind the hall. Both unaware that the other was around! Good for the mental health of both of them I imagine. Nice to be able to say hallo to them too.

Back home I pottered in the garden, my 3 courgette plugs arrived from Suttons, so much better packaged than the stuff from Marshalls. They are in pots now to grow on a bit before going outside. I planted the runner bean seeds too they are on the kitchen windowsill which could actually do with being extendable!

It's extraordinary how quickly things are growing now they've got going. Looking forward to some good crops this season.

My face masks from Mairi Brown arrived yesterday, lovely to see the designers making use of their talents in this way. K was saying that her face is very small, as is mine, and they are having difficulty sourcing effective (for a hospital doctor) facemasks for her that provide a good enough fit. My posh one is big, but I can easily alter that, K's need for something effective is much more concerning. One of her friends in London sent her a picture of some scrubs she had been issued with, made by Dunelm from excess curtain fabric, yesterday's were apparently from Barbour..... Very posh. Things in London are so different from here. We are very lucky.

Keep well everybody and keep safe, we're getting there.
