Miniature desert
with baby Horse Tails/Mares Tails sprouting out of the ground. Fortunately the plants are not in the garden but in one place on the farm. They go back millions of years even before the dinosaurs were roaming the earth. Much more recently, in medieval times, monks used Mares Tails to burnish their drinking vessels and metal objects. It has good herbal medicinal uses too.
Extra photo: an abundance of May blossom, hopefully masses of berries for the birds later in the autumn
