Behind you

One for Derelict Sunday, thank you Marlieske. As far as I can ascertain, the little white house in the picture is condemned. I call it 'little' but it probably has 3 or 4 bedrooms, it's just little in relation to the house behind it. It sits beside the Downham to Wisbech road and probably has done for 200 years. I have watched over the last year as the new house has grown up behind it. This pic was taken with a 45mm lens so there is no foreshortening going on here. The gap between the front of the new house and the rear of the old house is no more than 4ft and the old house is only a narrow pavement width from the road. When the white house is demolished, which I am presuming will happen if they want any light in the new kitchen, it surely will have to be taken down brick by brick. Obviously there has been no work here during lockdown but I expect that to change soon. I hope to post pics of the process for future Derelict Sundays.
They will have great views front and back as they are placed midway between The Great River Ouse and its Relief Channel. They just have to keep their fingers crossed that funding for upkeep of the river sluices is maintained as do all of us around here :-)
