First Baby of the Year

I took a short walk at the metro park, and came to a fork in the road. A left would take me back to the parking lot, and a right would take me down to the lake. With no leaves for cover, I could see through to the lake...but I went right anyway.

I was rewarded with a mama and a daddy sand-hill crane, with 2 brand new babies. I don't want to guess how old they were, but when they walked...they had trouble keeping their balance. Quite young I would think.

I got sticker shock when I pulled into the park. I had my 21 dollars ready (last year's price for an annual pass), but the young man said..."That will be 29 dollars." Yikes, an 8 dollar increase?

Oh well. I paid my money, and saw my crane baby.
