A rainy day in Gent

It was already raining when I woke up today and it didn't stop for a single moment the rest of the day. The closest it ever got to being dry was a heavy drizzle. It was always so wet that the only camera that made it out of my bag was the compact Ixus to take a couple of photos of Tao for my personal record of the dogs that I walk.

Tao is the smallest and least robust male Staffordshire at the sanctuary and I felt rather sorry for him that Christophe from the sanctuary had chosen him for my walking companion this afternoon. The poor thing doesn't seem to like the rain and tries to avoid all the puddles by walking around them. I don't know who of us was the wettest at the end of our walk.

The only other photo that I took today is this one of the small pond at the park. The ice there has started to melt but most of the surface is still covered with it. The oriental looking structure that is standing in the water with one leg and on the small island in the middle of the pond with the other leg is the one that the Heron usually sits on. Sometimes he also uses the rock that sticks out of the water though.

It was very difficult to ride a bicycle in the wet weather we had today when you're wearing glasses! Sometimes it was nearly impossible to see the road, either because of the rain, or because the warmth of my face made them fog up. The ride home proved even more difficult because the rain on my glasses reflected each street light and all the headlights of the cars and it was like looking through a film of glittering stars. Fortunately I made home safely
