Rock on

A great Dunbar day today. Sunshine - bliss after yesterday's haar. Matthew has gone to a pal's for an all-day play and sleepover - it feels like he's left home, sob!

Andrew brought his pal, Rowan, home to play after Enjoy-a-ball. They've teamed up to compete in the "D Factor", the school's talent contest. They've written their own song about gremlins, Andrew plays guitar and Rowan has a bodhran. So the plan was that they were going to practise for the next stage of the competition.

However, they decided that they would prefer to make a trophy to give to their Enjoy-a-ball coach. They used a fine collection of junk to make a towering trophy, covered in tin foil. Then they indulged George with a strange little game of their own devising. I finally persuaded them that some fresh air and sun might be a good idea and we headed for East Beach, where we had a great time on the rocks.

Our old pal, Kay, spotted us so she and her 2 boys joined us on the beach for a blether then we all headed back to our house for hot chocolates - it may have been sunny, but there was a fair breeze about the knees, especially since the fellas were all wearing shorts in the Dunbar Eccentric style.

Doesn't sound like much, but a happy day. Good stuff, sea air!
