Cooper's hawk (?)
After last night's neighborhood "Friday around the Firepit" turned into "Friday around the fire pit filled with ice for your cold drink," it was a surprise to wake up to a cold and cloudy morning. Springtime in the Rockies!
We had a treat on the afternoon walk, with the sighting of this hawk. At first I thought it was a Sharp-shinned hawk, but after being reassured by the Audubon site that it is very difficult to differentiate between Cooper's and Sharpies, I have changed my mind.
This bird is as big as a crow, has a flatter head shape, a lighter colored neck, and a squared off tail.
What do you all think?
