Dead fish in the river bank

The girls were very curious about the 200+ dead fish we saw on the bank of the river this afternoon. The explanation is that they got trapped under the ice over winter in this little side channel and died of oxygen deprivation. The rapid recession of the ice now reveals their well preserved bodies.
