Bridge Over the Esk.
Well, that's the lamp assembled and in use and the camera despatched from Germany - should "arrive in 3-5 working days". How will I manage to cope with the excitement?
Spent most of the day doing paperwork: the licences for the January films shown at the cinema have gone awry (a case of too many cooks), AGM time is looming for both beekeeping clubs, the grant applications for beekeeping projects are hotting up and a few other tedious tasks need attention.
There was a pleasant interlude taking the dogs out, it didn't last long as Mrs TD had to be back for a meeting herself, but I did have the opportunity to blip her crossing the bridge at the Gunpowder Mill. I think, if you dig away the topsoil on the decking, you can still find the old railway tracks, they were removed from everywhere else long ago. The trucks were horse drawn, the sparks from a steam loco would not have been appropriate and the horses had to wear leather boots rather than steel shoes - again, this was to avoid sparks. On a similar theme, there was a railway running along the top of the ridge overlooking the factory until that nice Doctor Beeching came along and dismembered it, the railway ran through a corrugated iron tunnel, I'm sure you can guess the bit that comes next.
I know the lady who is the World's leading (only?) authority on Roslin Gunpowder Factory, personally, I think everyone should have a hobby.
