Here there and everywhere

Lockdown day 50

Great excitement today as we were able to go out for a walk for an hour and within 1km of our home. We can do this once a day from either 6-10am or 8-11pm for our age group. We were able to go out together too!! Woohoo! The excitement was palpable as we put our masks on.

We had kind of planned our route, but had alternatives up our sleeves just in case. I'd love to be able to say how fantastic it was, but you know what? It was verging on being stressful. Some simply don't keep to the 2 metre distancing even when it's easily done, some think it's perfectly ok to jog with sweaty bodies, heavy panting and bare torsos, some think it's fine to have a pavement social meeting of 4 people, not 2 metres apart and not from the same household, and then there are those who walk in the middle of the pavement, don't move when you're approaching, meaning you have to dodge onto the road. How difficult can this be, especially in a country which has already lost 27,000 lives to this virus?

We did our hour, arrived home, took off our masks and washed them, sprayed our shoes, washed our hands to two Happy Birthdays and I wondered if exercising on our roof terrace wouldn't be a better option. Certainly less stressful.
