Tartan Lum

Steamer Glen Rosa in Rothesay Bay 1923. Clyde steamers were mainly owned by railway companies. When LMS absorbed the Caledonian Railway and the much smaller Glasgow & South Western companies in 1923 they agreed at first to allow the two to merge funnel livery so the unpopular tartan lum appeared. G&SW had the finest livery with red and black funnels and silvery grey hulls. However by 1925 all the steamers had black hulls and yellow and black funnels
