Watching Over

I've not visited my usual lakeside haunt as Trentham Gardens is currently closed due to the Coronavirus. So I have really missed the wildlife I would usually see on my walk.

We went for our longer walk today which took us along the Trent and Mersey Canal with our destination being Hem Heath Woods. It's another nature reserve managed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. En route we were treated to geese and swan families. There were 2 separate Canada Goose families and this set of 8 cygnets. The canal was covered in some kind of blossom which seemed to make it sparkle.

The extra is of the cygnets all trying to climb aboard mum as she swam away. Unfortunately, there seemed to be room for only seven!
