Chemo day

My daughter was dropped off at the clinic, only patients can be in the infusion room. (very different from when I was in an infusion room setting)
The chemo cocktail today will take seven hours to administer.

1. perjeta

Side effects in more than half the people taking it include diarrhea, hair loss, and loss of neutrophils; more than 10% experience loss of red blood cells, hypersensitivity or allergic reaction, infusion reactions, decreased appetite, insomnia, distortions in the sense of taste, inflammation of the mouth or lips, constipation, rashes, nail disease, and muscle pain.[3] Women who are pregnant or planning on getting pregnant should not take it, it was not studied in people with certain heart conditions and should be used in caution in such people, and it should not be used with an anthracycline.[3] It is unknown if pertuzumab interacts with doxorubicin.[3]

2. herceptin

Common side effects include fever, infection, cough, headache, trouble sleeping, and rash.[3] Other severe side effects include heart failureallergic reactions, and lung disease.[3] Use during pregnancy may harm the baby.[1] Trastuzumab works by binding to the HER2 receptor and slowing down cell duplication.[3]

3. carboplatin


Side effects generally occur.[2] Common side effects include low blood cell levels, nausea, and electrolyte problems.[3][2] Other serious side effects include allergic reactions and increased future risk of another cancer.[2] Use during pregnancy may result in harm to the baby.[2] Carboplatin is in the platinum-based antineoplastic family of medications and works by interfering with duplication of DNA

4. taxotere


Common side effects include hair losslow blood cell counts, numbness, shortness of breath, vomiting, and muscle pains.[1] Other severe side effects include allergic reactions and future cancers.[1] Side effects are more common in people with liver problems.[1] Use during pregnancy may harm the baby.[1] Docetaxel is in the taxane family of medications.[3] It works by disrupting the normal function of microtubules and thereby stopping cell division.[1]
