Staufian column capital
We went to one of our favourite places, the Wildenburg. It’s a still huge castle complex of Staufian times(12th century). It must have been one of the biggest and finest castles in the Middle Ages. The great hall in the palace was 200 square metres with a fireplace of some 10 square metres. Today it is hidden in the forest in the Odenwald and place for a day trip for people from the metropolitan area of Frankfurt in particular. My guess was we would be alone, but no, there were ‘many’ visitors who had the same idea of woodland solitude in Corona times.
The extra shows the large hall with the fireplace
