Crab apple
First part of the morning spent replying to emails. Then I managed to secure a click-and-collect slot at the supermarket for Thursday, and spent a while shopping on-line for the next fortnight.
MrM is joining an Irish music session on Zoom later in the week, and he was invited to join a short practice session this afternoon. His session friends had already persuaded me to set it up, and alerted me to be on standby today - all went without a hitch, and I was required only to alter a couple of settings, so he's all set for the real thing!
A grey day turned into a glorious evening, so MrM and I set off for some exercise after our evening meal, following a similar route to the one we took two week ago. Through Wooler, along the Earle road, and in to the valley leading to the Pin Well. This crab apple tree, full of the most beautiful blossom (and buzzing with bees), is on the corner by the quarry. This time we took the steep track up to the southern edge of the woods, walked up through the trees, and down through the field to the Common. On the way round the main path we disturbed a young roe deer, about 10m away, and it back away a couple of steps when it spotted us. We stopped in our tracks and stood still, watching it for a couple of minutes, then continued slowly. It seemed to perceive that we were no threat, and went back to grazing. Sadly, too dark for photos by then. Almost 9.30pm by the time we got back to the flat!
