L'Azure des nerpruns
Lots of butterflies through the garden today. In order of first appearance: Large White, Red Admiral, Green-veined White, Speckled Wood, Small White, Holly Blue, and one very tatty old Comma. The Holly Blues (L'Azure des nerpruns in France) were most frequent with both male and female seen. I watched this female laying eggs on the holly flower buds, providing a good view of the rich blue upper wing with its broad black border (in the male the wings are almost entirely blue with just a rim of black https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2702929374981653595).
