Hawthorn Hedge

I thought all the beautiful flowering hedges were blackthorn, but I decided to look it up, and it seems this is mostly hawthorn, in fact. Hawthorn blooms after the leaves arrive, blackthorn blooms before there are leaves. Blackthorn leaves are single petal leaves, whereas hawthorn have distinctive lobes. So, learned something new today.
