Virtual Dinner Party
An organization based in Hebden Bridge arranged a special night tonight for people who were self-isolating.
They delivered to your home a full three-course meal - cooked by a local restaurant along with a 'Party Bag' with all manner of goodies donated by local shops and businesses and they even arranged a YouTube/Zoom video with entertainment by local artists to entertain you whilst you dined (see extra) - and all this was completely free of charge (wine excepted).
The meal came in foil containers - much like a takeaway - and just needed reheating in the oven/microwave.
The menu:
Starter: Onion seed flatbread with whipped goats cheese and a caramelised onion and candied walnut salad.
Main Course: Slow braised lamb in red wine and mint sauce with a sweet potato fondant and roasted asparagus.
Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding with a thick toffee sauce.
Absolutely first rate in every respect - just like dining out. It was under the banner 'Eat Together - Stay Home' - and that's just what we did.
Something like this really does restore your faith in people. They put a load of time and effort into this project - and it worked a treat. We thank them all very, very much for a truly wonderful evening.
