the early bird..

...catches the bees.

This is Darell preparing a bee hive for collection from a charcoaled tree hollow in the bush at the end of our street. There is a path just beside the tree used by school children as a short cut, and he's decided the combination of bees and kids may not be such a great idea, so he has taken it upon himself to collect the swarm and relocate it, (quite possibly to his garden which sounds amazing with permaculture veggie patch, fruit trees and chickens.)

The bees were incredibly calm around him, and not just because of the smoke I don't think. He's such a gentle fellow and when not relocating bees is an inventor.We are to have coffee soon and I hope to learn a little more about this 'bee whisperer.'
