Travel
Does anyone know how to take a picture through glass and NOT get a reflection from it. I couldn't figure it out, so I had to settle on this one.
Anyways, packed today, went to O'Hare, perfect weather throughout the whole country and when I looked at the board of hundreds of flights I saw only 3 delayed. As usual when I fly, the airlines delays the flight for at least an hour or two just for me to make sure that I make my flight on time. So a two hour delay, no problem I have my laptop.
Turn it on, and nada... hard drive is dead. The funny thing is that I have backup hard drive already loaded w/everything, but it's at my apt. Now I know, always travel w/a backup hard drive (and the one in there is only 5 months old - lame).
Anyways, the plane ride was awful, the plane reminded me of that scene in Shawshank Redemption when Andy has to climb through the sewer pipe. Surrounded by awfulness and in a tight area. To top it off some old dude was snoring so loud that when I turned up my Sirius headphones to the max (the ones that actually go in your ear) I could still hear him. Overall most of the people were pretty rude, but the guys next to me were really nice. It was their first time to Vegas (they drove up from Kentucky to go to fly out of Chicago to Vegas - who knows). Anyways, they chatted me up a bunch about things and they informed that it was Spring Break and to expect lots of college kids (which they were).
When I finally arrived and finished setting up over at Alexis Park (ugh), went over to Caesar's where I had reserved our rooms 3-4 months ago (paid 100% in advance) and confirmed the reservation earlier when I was at the airport and told them we'd be there w/a late check-in. Well of course they sold our rooms to someone else so after about 30 or 40 minutes they were able to find rooms for us. Dave got put in another tower (in Caesar's that's like a 15 minute walk), but whatever we all got upgraded to really nice rooms. My only problem was I had requested a NON-SMOKING room, and they gave me a smoking room. I could have slept in the janitor's closet I could care less, just so long as it doesn't smell like smoke (and it was that gross cigar smell - so nasty).
The lady insisted that they had no more rooms available, I asked her (because I thought she was lying) if I could pay $1000 a night for an upgrade if that was possible, she hacked away from a few minutes and said sorry, but did offer to ionize the room (basically a guy just sprays some really harsh chemical deodorizer stuff).
Now I'm pretty low maintenance, but this really felt like that Seinfeld episode where they made a reservation, but they didn't keep it. Regardless, the next night I was moved to a non-smoking room.
