Finally....
The wisteria in the hedge is now starting to grow in our direction and across the pergola. We don't begrudge our neighbours some blooms but we would like some too:))
It's VE day today. So good to see communities coming together to celebrate while maintaining self distancing.
I have a letter written by my father to his sister on VE day 75 years ago . It was a great relief to him to welcome peace in Europe. He was involved in the D day landings as an Artillery officer and I remember his many war stories. He remained in Europe for an extra year to run a displaced persons camp before returning to go to the Royal Agricultural College at Cirencester . He loved being a farmer and spent the rest of his life running a mixed dairy and arable farm. I was lucky enough to grow up driving tractors, feeding cattle, helping with harvest and sharing his love of growing things. I also have him and my mum to thank for giving me a love of sailing and boats.
We are still keeping safe at home but are thinking of the people affected by coronavirus and those involved in caring from them .
Stay safe, stay well and enjoy your weekend
