Good morning VE 75th anniversary day.

This was the scene we woke up to this morning, just across the road from us. It was a start to what turned out to be a wonderful day. An impromptu street party evolved, bunting and flags were appearing everywhere as the morning went on,  sorting out 1940's music and Churchills speech to be broadcast on a powerful speaker. Texts going back and forth as we arranged for our 97 year old neighbour to be guest of honour, how lucky we are to have a Veteran of the D day landings as one of our neighbours.. Posh frocks donned and the 3 pm toast was directed to Jim with people from further down the road joining us at our end, and all with social distancing being observed.

In the morning several of us were outside as the Red Arrows were reported as likely to fly over the village on their way back from the London fly past. We waited with anticipation - then we heard the rumble, it got nearer and nearer, then faded away with us not getting a glimpse! Someone actually clapped - er.... No they missed us!!!

All in all a fabulous day where it was lovely to see so many neighbours at a distance. Extra is a collage of the day.
