Green Grow the Rushes Oh.
Today was a good day.
We got up later than the alarm time, which was lovely.
We headed to the allotment, via Savers, and I followed the one way systems and bought a bag load of toiletries. which was exceptionally satisfying.
At the allotment I was so exhausted. I decided to do one thing at a time, and be chilled.
I planted 14 marigolds which we had planted from seed. I stuck new sticks into the peas, which are growing at a tremendous rate.
Si filled the water tanks, and watered the potatoes, and everything in the polytunnel.
I weeded - the onions, garlic and shallots are looking great.
I spoke to a new allotmenteer who has done the most amazing things with her new plot. It was always a kind of "at the edge" plot - people worked it a little bit, and then gave up. She has edged it, weeded it to fine soil, planted potatoes, peas, beans, and rhubarb.
Then we came home, and piddled.
And then.... I cut Si's hair.
I have always, and forever offered to cut his hair and he has always declined, quite, quite forceably. But today, as we sat having a cuppa tea, he said, "okay you wanna cut it? "
I have to admit, my hands were shaking I was SO EXCITED, and a BIT SCARED.
Am actually really, really pleased with my efforts.
His head looks completely normal. He has not shouted at me. He no longer looks like a bag man.
And then. I made short crust pastry cases, and Si put them together with cream and strawberries and sauce and we had the most delicious strawberry tarts.
:The photo? I pulled all my leeks at the allotment - five of them had gone to seed ,and I didn't want the rest of them to - so I pulled them, chopped them and blanched them and now they are in three bags, in the freezer, ready to use in my soups, or risottos.
:-)
Good times.
And yes, hopping, skipping and jumping and dancing has commenced.
