Tiptoeing
Reg is on patrol, a blade of grass jauntily placed in the corner of his mouth. When not feeding, life is about patrolling the boundaries, always looking for a portal to a new and different world. This includes (see extra) sizing up cliff edges for possible descent routes.
Walking on toe claws, carrying around a heavy shell always seems to me an inefficient form of locomotion. But he hares along surprisingly quickly, and he has immense strength for his size.
In the background is visible the foot of the scaffolding which has created an unexpectedly enduring balcony for our bedroom.
Outside the boundaries of the garden, the first fly orchid flowers have opened on the site nearest to home. Soon the whole inflorescence will be in flower, that is if they don't get strimmed off first - as so often happens. How long do I wait to blip them?
Yesterday, I loaded two blips at the same time, and the earlier one disappeared without trace from the Recent page. So, if anyone wants to see a close-up of big chick with epaulettes, click the link.
