What Walsall is Famous For!
...........not just for hosting the busiest section of motorway (The M6) in the country. In the 19th Century Walsall was known as the "leather capital of the world". This piece of street sculpture commemorates that history, although, if you weren't looking for it, you might miss it, as it was tucked between two market stalls.
Bradford Street used to be one of the main thoroughfares through the town, before pedestrianisation in the late 1970s. Anyway, a day off and quick trip into town for a rare visit to the bank. About the only reason I go there now is to pay in the odd cheque and one of those was from last September!
