After the rain the sun
A pleasant contrast to the last 48 hours. Still windy but not quite as wild, and drier.
I remember singing the title words when I was in the infants at school. Just looked them up online. And here is the whole hymn. I failed to see how we could do other than grow nearer the sky. The heaven metaphor totally passed me by. Loved singing the hymn though!
Glad that I live am I;
That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes,
And the fall of dew.
After the sun the rain;
After the rain the sun;
This is the way of life,
Since the world begun.
All that we need to do,
Be we low or high,
Is to see that we grow
Nearer the sky.
