Invicta Pro Diver

Here I go with another "sports" watch. It is important to grasp that none of these watches are made from precious metals or cost very much. Some of them are family heirlooms, some were gifts, others were "mad money" purchases for anniversaries or special occasions and still others were acquired because they are rare enthusiast icons that I was able to track down. All of them are fun accessories and each of them is a photographic challenge.

Years ago I produced studio "product images" for commercial advertising, utilising specialist lighting set ups and untold amounts  of time and trouble. These days the task is to duplicate something of what I used to do with just a handheld compact camera and improvised available light. I love doing these things, especially when such hugely affordable items start to look even half way swish.

This particular timepiece was designed by Invicta to resemble a Rolex rolesor "Submariner" from the early 1990s. It has a surprisingly nice Seiko NH35 hacking/hand winding automatic movement. It is nominally a 200m water resistant diver but is not ISO certified as such. It's more for dressing up than anything else. I like to wear this for dining out with maybe a leather jacket ... and a gold chain ... especially when I am trying to look like a faintly dodgy real estate developer.
