DROP SCONES?

Or as my mother called them "Scotch Girdle Pancakes" - have a look at her "Tried Recipes" in the extra?

My mother needed everything on paper - she was a lovely pianist, but without a musical score, she could hardly play a note!

I was the opposite - although she obliged me to learn the piano at the age of six - I could never be persuaded to read the dots! Eventually I became a good guitarist, but could never claim to be a "musician".

Same with cooking which I love  - always take liberties with the received recipes...
