Lockdown Hat #2
This one has a story behind it...
3 or so years ago I had a few days within the walls of St Malo. Close to my hotel was a lovely little boutique which had lots of interesting hats and this red one was in the window. I really loved it and took a photograph which I posted on Facebook.
A friend of mine saw the post and told me that for a long time she had meant to join the Red Hat Society. Although I’d heard the poem I’d never heard of the Society so googled it. I thought it sounded interesting so went through the steps to look at joining. But I was foiled by the pull down menus which didn’t offer Guernsey but if UK was selected insisted on a county. I emailed the USA office to point out my problem and thought no more about it.
But I liked the hat and bought it...
Weeks later I had an email from The Red Hatters to say they had updated their website so that Guernsey residents could join. I did join but never renewed membership after the first year because it was a bit too posh and glitzy for me. But my friend joined and now takes part in many conventions in the UK.
