Birds of the River

Another successful morning starting with the kingfisher in the first five minutes. Conversation with P and then a leisurely amble along the river bank to the edge of the park just south of Corkerhill. Including a trip to Morrisons and the slightly longer route home along the White Cart Water this is almost exactly 6 miles.

I experimented with a flask of coffee which could have been stronger and necessitated a number of stops, I long for the OK to sit in the country and enjoy a picnic.

I am pleased with the blip of the heron which didn’t see me, I though the sun would mar the shot but it hasn’t just makes it look a lot lighter than it was. Its unusual to see moorhen in Pollok park and this one stayed relatively still to get a decent shot.

The ducks seemed to enjoy the bird food although sadly I noticed that the size of the families  appeared to be smaller.

Another lazy afternoon followed a more or less successful attempt to make strawberry cream slices. Too hot an oven or perhaps for too long, I reckon 190 for 12 minutes would have done it.
As an afterthought I love the blip of the water with the duck and ducklings, would very much like to paint this, will have a go in the next few days, possibly.
