About to turn

Lightfoot

A street scene taken from the grounds of the Loudoun County courthouse on King Street. The buildings around town show a mix of eras, from colonial to present day. Looks so different from the Pacific Northwest where my family roots lie. Anyway, the bright building, formerly a bank, is now a posh restaurant named after Francis Lightfoot Lee, a member of Virginia's House of Burgesses and signer of the Declaration of Independence. Around the corner is a house said to have housed said historical document during the War of 1812 when Washington DC was burning.

Today was bright and sunny and slightly warmer, the air still beautifully clear. I met Laura for Writing in the Parking Lot (a different corner of it...exciting!) and made cookies with son D. Chocolate and raspberry marbled cookies, time-consuming but worth it, his favorite.
