Don't press the button!
When I was younger my elderly gran used to have a red button which I was always told never to touch.
A few years ago I was given my tele-care with the instruction of to use in emergency. 'Don't press the red button' anyone who has used a tele care system will know how loud it is. Firstly the small unit phoning out to the operators screeches and screams that old noise which used to be accompanied to trying to access the Internet you know the telephone cable screech at dialling out. Then the operators voices as they boom out over the telecare system ... Then the fact the telecare system has to be placed next to the incoming phone box so is the other end of the house... And so I don't touch the red button.. Infact even when I have fallen I have decided to just wait for my carers than deal with the red button... Although I did use it a couple of weeks ago when my carers were downstairs and I could feel myself passing out and my normal walky talkie and phone were out of reach....
Does telecare work? Yes if you have neighbours or friends/ family near by. No not really if you love half way up a mountain.
