The yearling
I think the roe dear trailing a bit behind is the yearling, they set out on their own after the birth of the new faun so I’m not sure what is going on here. Is it a family or a collection of hinds, or something else. This was taken quite early in the morning, well before 8 and already the park was a bit busy with runners and dog walkers. I returned via the pond (coffee stop worked well) where there was a duck stushie, two mallards getting quite aggressive with the female. And a lone moorhen, I have yet to see moor hen young.
The days when I don’t see a kingfisher are more notable now than when I do, Today there were several sights, in the morning and then again briefly in the evening when I went out of a short run. Endeavouring to maintain some sort of running competence so that in due I can pick up again relatively easily and get into the park run – realistically probably next spring, perhaps.
Booked a trip with HF to the Lofoten islands for July 2021. Regrettably I notice that the Bergen to Newcastle ferry stopped running in 2008, on account of cheap air travel. It would be amazing if it could get going again.
The second blip is the bridge over the White Cart at Pollok House, I love how the rhododendron are reflected in the water.
