Opening up
As Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, all are being called upon to wear masks, maintain social distance, wash hands often, and be cautious. In this nest of fascist tendencies that is the USA, I'm watching with interest as businesses develop new safety precautions while attempting to avoid alienating those who style themselves "rugged individualists" and copy our President in refusing to wear masks or treat this virus with distance and respect.
My local brick-and-mortar camera shop, where I bought my camera and where I make whatever expenditures I can to keep up with my passion for photography and support local business, has issued interesting new policies as follows:
When you come into our stores, our employees will be wearing face coverings, and we will require that you wear one, too. We want to take care of one another, and this will help prevent the spread of this pandemic.
If you are unable to wear a face covering, we can do the shopping for you, deliver your items curbside, or ship it direct.
Subtle boundary-setting, isn't it? "unable," not "unwilling" or "obstinate".
A good friend says Trump followers are "self-culling" by refusing to mask and insisting Covid-19 is "just a flu." He wishes them satisfaction, though he fears they endanger everyone else for the sake of their towering egos.
Bella's mom, a fashion consultant and costumer, has created a new blog post about making the mask a fashion statement.
